Star's Michael
Caruso has won his first Fujitsu V8
Supercar Series race at the Clipsal
500 in Adelaide this afternoon.
Caruso led the 24-lap
race from start to finish after he
stormed off the line and lead into
the first corner from Howard Racing's
youngster Andrew Thompson.
'I
was really surprised that I got off
to such a great start, it would have
to be one of my best starts,'
said Caruso.
Thompson qualified
on pole position earlier in the day
and spent majority of the race battling
with second place Tony D'Alberto,
before damaging a front steering component
26 minutes into the race ending his
chance for a podium finish.
D'Alberto
who qualified in sixth position was
happy with his performance.
'It
was a great result for the team after
an awful day yesterday, I was happy
to sit in second place,'said
D'Alberto.
Hobson Motorsport's
Jose Fernandez third position was
short lived after rookie Jonathon
Webb nudged Fernandez out on the last
lap.
'I
got up with Fernandez on the second
last lap and took the chance to come
up, I don't think
he knew I was there,'Webb
said.
The final Fujitsu
race starts tomorrow at 9:55am. |
