Fast At Second Ford Rising Stars Test
Day
Release Date: 20/03/2007
Grant Denyer put
in an impressive display at the Lawrence
& Hanson / Auslec, Summit, Ford
Rising Stars Racing Team second test
day at Oran Park this week. Having
his first full test day after missing
the opening round of the 2007 Fujitsu
V8 Supercar Championships, Denyer
recorded some very fast laps.
“We were really happy with Grant’s
times today as it confirms we have
two podium contenders this year”,
Team Manager Jim Morton said. “Grant’s
position with the team was always
strictly based on his driving skills
but his media savvy is a real bonus
to our young drivers”, he said.
“Whilst a championship position
is tough for Grant with him missing
both the first and third round, his
form today confirms he has the pace
to win races this year”, Jim
Morton said.
“Missing Clipsal was really
hard as I am very excited about the
new team this year”, Grant Denyer
said. “My personal supporters
in Summit Fleet Leasing and Geist
have followed me again this year so
I am hoping to repay their faith in
me with a good result at Wakefield
Park”, he said.
Clipsal round winner, Michael Caruso
continued his good testing form with
some impressive times. “We were
happy to have a low key day and work
on some minor improvements to my car”,
Michael Caruso said. “We have
addressed some things that will help
drivability of the car and are looking
forward to another good result at
Wakefield Park next week. Knowing
that Grant has really good pace is
good for the team”, he said.
Team Rookie, Daniel Ellliott made
the long flight from Perth for minimal
laps at the test day but will again
be driving the Denyer car at the third
round at Winton in May. “I am
hoping to get a chance to get a run
in one of the other cars in the series
during the year to get my experience
up”, Daniel Elliott said. “This
year as a learning curve and the team
is working with me on some corporate
support to ensure I can do the full
season with them in 2008”, he
said.
