Release Date: 03/03/2007
Ford Rising Star's
Michael Caruso has taken out his first
round in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series
at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide today.
'I'm
really happy with this result, it's
been a great effort from the team
and it's always
great to start the Series this way,'
said Caruso.
Qualifying second,
Caruso got off to a great start in
race one and led from start to finish
taking the chequered flag on Friday.
Caruso took the lead
again in race two today after pushing
past Tony D'Alberto
on lap four; he remained consistent
throughout the race to cross the line
first with a time of 37.55.3276.
'Tony
slowed up a bit and I saw the opportunity
so I dived in,'
Caruso said.
GMAC Racing's
Tony D'Alberto
placed second with a time of 37.58.2116
and WPR Racing's
Damien White stopped the clock in
third at 38.06.3278.
D'Alberto
is under the guidance of former V8
Supercar champion Glen Seton this
year and has taken on a more strategic
race plan.
'Glen
told me to use my head a little bit
more, race smarter, so I did and it
paid off,' said
D'Alberto.
White, driving an
ex-Paul Morris car had a tough fight
on his hands fending off Tekno Autosport's
Jonathon Webb who placed third in
race one.
'It
was very intense and I was still fatigued
after yesterday's
race, but it was a fantastic effort
by the team that brought us home,'
White said.
