FORD RISING STARS PROMISING TEST DAY

Ford Rising Stars Racing Team drivers Grant Denyer and Michael Caruso did their first test days at Winton Raceway this week after being grouped with FPR for their testing.

“Both drivers recorded impressive times on used tyres”, Team Owner Jim Morton said. “Comparing the practice times at the race meeting there this year both our guys would have been in the top six”, he said. “We had a great hit out over two days with all three of our drivers including rookie Daniel Elliott getting plenty of laps”.

At the conclusion of the second day the times which are shown on the live timing at the track had FRSR’s Michael Caruso in fourth place amongst some pretty impressive names main series drivers. “This is the first time this year we have been able to test with main game teams and with three of the best teams there we were very happy to see Michael’s name up there in the top four at the end of the test”, Jim Morton said. “Given this is our first test there and this is home base for these drivers and teams we were satisfied with the result. It not smart to get carried away with test times as a lot depends on the tyres each car was using but we know ours were nothing special so its good for our aspirations for the future”.

For Grant Denyer it was an ideal hit out before the endurance races. Covering nearly two hundred laps over the two days he was able to find a good rhythm with his new car he drove for the first time only a month ago.

Our team rookie Daniel Elliott also had the opportunity to do some longer hit outs in Grant’s car and recorded some encouraging times. “For me every lap this year is a real bonus. My game plan is to do the full championship in 2008 and with test miles in these cars hard to find every hit out helps”, Daniel Elliott said.

Ford Rising Stars Racing Team unveiled their new merchandising trailer at Oran Park with a range of team merchandise including shirts, jackets, stubby holders, mouse pads, caps and memorabilia available at the track or on line. Next event for the team is Bathurst.
