FORD RISING STARS DOMINATE PRACTICE FOR FINAL FUJITSU CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND
30/11/2007
With the team still believing it has a strong chance to win the 08 Fujitsu V8 Supercar championship, driver Michael Caruso pushed the teams Ford Falcon to the top of the timesheet in both of today’s practice sessions.
“We are heading into the weekends racing with our target to win both races,” Team Owner Jim Morton said. “For us to win the Championship we need to win the two races and then our fate is in the series leaders hands. Tony D’Alberto needs to finish no lower than eight in both races to win the series so we will look to do our bit and see what happens”, he said.
The Ford Rising Stars Ford Falcon has the necessary pedigree for success here as its sister car in the hands of Mark Winterbottom topped the main series practice timesheets as well.
“Michael has won many Championships with us over the years in karting so to win the Fujitsu championship would certainly be a great way for Michael and I to finish the year”, Jim Morton said. “We are still not locked in with regard to our arrangements for next year so whatever happens I hope Michael can add another prestigious championships to his resume”.
“It would certainly repay Ford’s faith in supporting young drivers and the whole Rising Stars concept to win in our first year. We have provided a platform for not only our drivers to show their potential this year but along the way introduced some bright young engineering and mechanical talents to V8’s”, Jim Morton said. “Our background has always been to show faith in the young guys and often the rewards in this sort of support are not restricted to their on track success but to the people they grow into”.
Ford Rising Stars Racing Team would like to thank all their commercial partners who have not only made this possible in 07 but who have provided such strong support to the team off the track as well. Thanks to Lawrence & Hanson, Auslec, Selmor Displays, Geist Caravans, Summit Fleet Leasing, Colourscan Printing, Craft Diffs, Scotts Panel & Paint, FPR, SBR, Eibach Springs and especially to our team workshop manager, Mick Caruso.
