FRSR IN THE WILD WEST FRIDAY – FRSR 18th IN PRACTICE
10/05/2008
Hot and sunny weather in Perth and FRSR had their first top twenty practice session of the season finishing eighteenth after official practice.
‘I’m really happy with the set up and feel confident we can qualify in the top twenty tomorrow”, FRSR Driver Michael Patrizi said. ”We spent a lot of time on old tyres getting the best set up for racing and then did only two laps on new tyres at the end”.
This weekend is effectively the home race for Ausdrill Ford Rising Stars Racing with driver Michael Patrizi having been born in Kalgoorlie and now living in Perth. Add to this the fact that FRSR’s flagship sponsor, diversified mining entity, Ausdrill Pty Ltd, is also WA based.
“We have had a big week already with promotional nights for Ausdrill in Kalgoorlie and Perth and the announcement of Grant Denyer as our Enduro co-driver”, FRSR Team Owner, Jim Morton said. “Grant is in the form of his motor racing life and we are really looking forward to Bathurst where he has a great track record”.
“We have had over three hundred people at the Ausdrill functions this week as well as having the drivers interviewed during the Seven Nightly News / Weather direct from Ausdrill in front of the FRSR race car and transporter”, he said.
After a mixed weekend at the first V8 Supercar Championship round in New Zealand, which included a seriously large crash which resulted in an allnighter for the crew, today was uneventful……….and fast.
“It’s great to start the weekend off well with so many supporters here from not only Ausdrill, but Tex Onsite and Decina Bathroomware”, Commercial Manager of FRSR, Kim White said. “We are building our commercial support base this year after moving up from the Fujitsu Development V8 Supercar championship last year. This weekend we welcomed two more partners in supply chain buying group, Supply Clusters and Jeff Leisk from KTM who supplied the team with a hotted up V- Moto scooter to use around the pits”.
“New sponsors into V8 Supercar’s are usually looking for brand exposure on Network Sevens television coverage or as a means for networking or even for corporate entertaining of their major customers”, FRSR Team Owner Jim Morton said today. “However when WA diversified mining and services company, Ausdrill joined the ranks of being a V8 Supercar flagship sponsor for new team ‘Ford rising Stars Racing’ it included a totally different reason”, he said.
“Ausdrill are looking for employees to join their various interests in the West. Including Mechanics, Machinists, Boilermaker/Welders, Drillers, Fitters, Mechanical Engineers and Spray Painters to work in mining areas and mechanics for their automotive business”, Jim Morton said.
Ausdrill is a diversified mining and services company providing leading edge services in mining, drill and blast, exploration, procurement & logistics, manufacturing, telecommunications and automotive industries with operations in Australia, United Kingdom and Africa.
Ausdrill’s operations include their drill and blast exploration services, ‘Diamond Communications’ who specialise in horizontal boring, optical fibre hauling and jointing and cable ploughing. ‘Supply Direct’ with offices in WA, the UK, South Africa and Ghana who is a single source supplier to major mining projects. ‘Westrans Services’ who service repair and maintain heavy vehicles, cranes and fork lifts.
