RACE TWO THREE REPORTS, SANDOWN PARK, VICTORIA
10/06/2008

RACE TWO

Monday’s first race was run in wet conditions from start to finish.

Michael made excellent progress from the rear of the grid after a race one DNF. By mid race we have moved to sixteenth and having his first wet touring car race, Michael consistently brought down his lap times.

“After our compulsory tyre stop Michael unfortunately got caught behind the leader when a safety car period started. And between the race leader and the safety car were a number of cars that were immediately in front of us on the road before the safety car intervention. This was the worst possible result with the cars between the leader and the safety car allowed to pass the safety car and speed around onto the back of the others cars in the line”, Jim Morton, FRSR Team Owner said. “With the safety car waving on these cars Michael unfortunately passed the leader and followed them through thinking he was also being called on”.

The Clerk Of Course immediately disqualified Michael from the race as passing the leader of the race is not allowed.

“Our charter is to bring on the young drivers and unfortunately this happened through lack of experience”, Jim Morton said. “You take the good with the bad and today has been a steep learning curve”.

RACE THREE

For race three Michael started at the rear of the grid after the DSQ in race two. Again after the settling I period he made reasonable progress through the field until he received a pit lane penalty for arriving too fast into the pitlane for our pitstop.

“A difficult weekend for FRSR but we have isolated some areas that we need to work on at our next test day on the 24th of this month”, jim Morton said.
